<Taffy©> Curve <<<<<<<<< Whats your favourite band and album and have they inspired you in anyway

Host Curve:

Q: from taffy: what is your favourite band and album and have they inspired you in any way?

Host Curve:

D: favourite band is the beatles, but artist is Aphex Twin and yes they have inspired me

Host Curve:

Q: from Mudflap: considering how Curve is practically worshipped, in the US - what albums are you playing non stop lately

AndyB:

<AeoN> Q: Is there any chance of a scandinavian gig ?

Host Curve:

T: not too many playing non stop constantly, favourite album is Catatonia which I can listen all the way through to

Host Curve:

Q: from Mudflap: I miss Curve having 2 guitarists. new one is excellent - have you thought of 2 guitar wall of sound

Host Curve:

T: No, we are moving on not going back to this

Host Curve:

Q: Tour questions regarding venues, cities etc. Are you going to South America

Host Curve:

T: Not yet

Host Curve:

Q; Dublin,

Host Curve:

T: Next year

Host Curve:

Q: Europe in general

Host Curve:

T: maybe festivals next year, as well as Australia next year, but the production of the band it is difficult to get it all together

Host Curve:

Q: US, Ohio?

AndyB:

<buttmuncher> question from chat room: What do you think about the level of promotion of Curve in the UK?

Host Curve:

D: we have done Cleveland, we will do Denver etc

Host Curve:

T: To fabio - really sorry that we were going to Florida, but unfortunately the record company do not want us to go there yet

Host Curve:

Q: from Buttmuncher: what do you think of the level of promotion of Curve in the UK

AndyB:

<AeoN> Q: Any plans for reprint of 'rare' records ? , Superblaster for instance ?

Host Curve:

T: Think it is always going to be a problem reconvincing people in UK again, but the record company are ok

Host Curve:

Q: Gary B. junior - on the website seems to be a considerable demand for out of print b-sides, eps etc - what the scoop with the back catalogue - reissues etc?

Host Curve:

T: all belongs to Anxious records, so we unfortunately do not have any control.

Host Curve:

D: we could compile something but we have to ask permission - but not thinking about it at the moment.

AndyB:

<FaitAccompli> Will there be a Pubic Fruit 2 or a video compilation?

Host Curve:

T: Also a great deal of money, cost to the public

Host Curve:

D: rarities would be good

Host Curve:

Q: Martian - is there any truth in the rumour that the band will be strictly teetotal on the US tour

Host Curve:

D&T: f*!* off C**" face

Host Curve:

Q: fait accompli: will there be a vid compilation

Host Curve:

T: there could be a video compilation. only one done for this record so far, but again we don't own them so it is the same thing. Cubic fruit 2? Cubic Fruit was a collection EP for America, but we don't do EP's anymore

Host Curve:

Q: What kind of recording machine do you use whilst laying tracks in Toni's basement for the last album

Host Curve:

D: very old 16 track and a very old 24 track

AndyB:

<Jamie> What's the drummer situation now? Is Monti a regular band member again?

Host Curve:

T: we use a fostx 24 track

Host Curve:

Q: drummers - from Jamie - what is the situation>

AndyB:

buttmuncher> Would Debbie Smith be interested in playing with Curve again? Or is she too busy DJ'ing in Soho?

Host Curve:

T: yes absolutely, Jamie is in the band

Host Curve:

Q: Buttmuncher - would Debbie Smith be interested in playing with Curve,

AndyB:

<Phoenyx> During the recent gig at Glasgow, they looked rather pissed off. I was just wondering was it the venue, the fans or just an off day?

Host Curve:

T: yes she would but no she can't

Host Curve:

T: regarding drummer, the name is Monti

Host Curve:

Q: Pheonix, gig in Glasgow - you looked pissed off - venue? fans? off day?

AndyB:

<Phoenyx> Are there any plans for more Scylla material?

Host Curve:

T: we had a brilliant time, it was a nightmare (a bit) on stage - Glasgow was fantastic the people were amazing there. We were very emotional all crying at the end

Host Curve:

Q: What synthizers did you use

Host Curve:

D: used samplers, guitars and funny old mooks, EMS

AndyB:

<AeoN> Q: Any plans for new non-curve projects, like with Recoil ?

Host Curve:

Q: how will the set be different on the next US tour

Host Curve:

T: the set is extremely different, a lot more varied - we thought the last one was very in your face - smash and grab - this time we will show them what we are really about - far more subtle. More intense and a lot longer

Host Curve:

Q: Pheonix are there are plans for more Scylla material

Host Curve:

T: no

AndyB:

<Jamie> mad drummers, tornadoes, passport problems, fire alarms... Are Curve the unluckiest band in the world?

Host Curve:

Q: what effects do you use on Toni's voice to get that thick glamerous sound

Host Curve:

T: an eventide H 3000 and a really crappy cheap compressor and a boss footpedal

Host Curve:

Q: Other non Curve projects - anything with Recoil

AndyB:

<Jamie> mad drummers, tornadoes, passport problems, fire alarms... Are Curve the unluckiest band in the world?

Host Curve:

T: Alan is a very gud friend of mine - I adore him , I love what he does, Depeche Mode fan - if he asks me to do any thing in the future I will - I need the leather jacket

Host Curve:

Q: from Jane

Host Curve:

T: No I think we have a lot of bad karma - we drag the baggage around with us.

AndyB:

<Lesley> Whatever happened to the "Coming Up Roses" video to be directed by Floria Sigismondi?

Host Curve:

Q from Leslie

Host Curve:

T: ask the record company

AndyB:

<Cuffs> What was it like working with Tim Simenon? Is he as laid back as he seems to be in interviews?

Host Curve:

D: it got put on hold - we would like to work with her again

Host Curve:

Q: Marcel you sang on Leftfield's track 'Original'

Host Curve:

T: this came about through a friend in the press company, was told they were looking for someone. I liked the tracks I heard, did the recording the next day. I really enjoyed it - it was their record, they had to do all the promotion - I got the video and top of the pops. I would love to do some more with them.

Host Curve:

Q: from Cuffs

Host Curve:

T: yes he is laid back.

Host Curve:

D: lots of green - tonnes - get the picture>

Host Curve:

Q: JH woodcock : superb new record. How do you feel about your older material now? Holds up to scruitiny

Host Curve:

T: Absolutely, but not all of it

AndyB:

<NetUser1> Toni ,Dean, how old are the two of you now ,35,40, 45 ish?

Host Curve:

Q: Netuser 1

Host Curve:

D: I'm 96 nearly 97

AndyB:

<angry1> what is ht e latest information on Fatlip? have any bands been signed to the label yet?

Host Curve:

T; younger than 35

Host Curve:

Q: Fat Lip question

AndyB:

<Lesley> Is there really a label to be called "CIC" as in Coast is Clear for your material outside of Curve?

Host Curve:

T: not at the moment, due to time but we are looking at a couple of things

Host Curve:

Q: Leslie: CIC label?

AndyB:

<NetUser1> only joking Toni, youre looking pretty good!

Host Curve:

T: it is not a label, it is a band name, Dean and I record a lot of other material which is weirder - so we decided to set up something else where we are called CIC under Fat Lip label

AndyB:

<Cuffs> if *you* wanted to get out of an aeroplane when you were under the influence, what would be thesafest way to do it, from an employment point of view?

Host Curve:

Q: Cuffs - if you wanted to get out of a aeroplane when under the influence how would you do this

Host Curve:

Cuffs - can you clarify this?

AndyB:

<Guapo> Q: how tough is the promotional part of being Curve? on the curve list we hear of so many interviews, chats :), etc.. is it distracting, or do you enjoy it in a sick sort-of way? :)

Host Curve:

Q: Brice - what is next single?

Host Curve:

T: 'Alligators Getting Up'

Host Curve:

Q: Brice - how is music world's different this time around from when Cuckoo was released

AndyB:

<Cuffs> i thought you fired your drummer for trying to leave a plane from the emergency exit...

Host Curve:

T: music world has stayed the same, music has changed but the industry is the same - it is riddled with flith

Host Curve:

Q: from Brice - what of the internet and fanbase pages

Host Curve:

T: it is good, easy way to get information across - what people think. it is easier to know what is going on across the world -

Host Curve:

D: it is good to read what people say after the show>

Host Curve:

Q: What do you think of bootlegs? would you play live on the internet

Host Curve:

T: we have been approached. the quality was bad - I don't think anyone would record that and bootleg it.

AndyB:

<Cuffs> have you been approached to do any film soundtracks? and if not, what film do you think you could have done the best job on?

Host Curve:

T:you can't stop people bootlegging

AndyB:

<Lesley> As the maintainer of my own Curve fansite, I have to ask how the two of you feel about the fansites? I hope you enjoy them. We're a devoted bunch of fnas as I'm sure you know.

Host Curve:

Q: cuffs - film soundtracks

Host Curve:

D: Bladerunner, spacey stuff or weird spooky sinister stuff - anything as long as it is not lightweight

Host Curve:

T: we were asked to do some stuff on the Crow - we couldn't do it as we were in the middle of the album. More into Paris Texas, Angelheart - edgy stuff

Host Curve:

Q: Why are you called Curve?

Host Curve:

T: Because I was pissed off with this band called Slowdive? word association from the name Slowdive

Host Curve:

Q: Dale Knuckles: Toni's tattoo - is it a Castle - what is the meaning of it?

AndyB:

<Lesley> Are you pleased with the remixes done thus far for the CUR and Chinese Burn singles? Also, who do you have lined up next for future remixes?

Host Curve:

T: It is not a castle. The meaning of it was pure teenage rebellion - my mum said I couldn't have one so I got one - but I do love it

Host Curve:

Q; Leslie: are you pleased with the remixes for CUR.....

AndyB:

<Cuffs> why don't you move when you're on stage, Toni? Is it because actually you can't dance very well?

Host Curve:

T: we are very pleased with the remixes. The ones we did for Chinese Burn - were excellent. For Coming up Roses they were amazing. We are thinking of using Robin Guthie

Host Curve:

Q: from Cuffs

Host Curve:

D: she is so pissed and out of it she is frightened she is going to fall over

Host Curve:

Q: do you have any fave Eurythmics albums

Host Curve:

T: Savage

AndyB:

I've got a question for BOTH of you: what did you each miss the LEAST about each other when the band split up for a while?

Host Curve:

D: In the Garden Sweet Dreams

Host Curve:

Q: will there be a biography>?

Host Curve:

D: not at the moment but maybe

Host Curve:

Q: Have you been to Seattle

Host Curve:

T: we liked it - you can get a decent cup of coffee

Host Curve:

D: loads of bookshops by the seafront, I felt comfortable walking around there

AndyB:

I've got a question for BOTH of you: what did you each miss the LEAST about each other when the band split up for a while?

Host Curve:

Q: if you wanted to live anywhere where would it be

Host Curve:

T: Caribbean

Host Curve:

Q: Do you prefer US or UK

Host Curve:

T: I like both. Because I'm English you are bound to say you like the English better, but I really like America - touring is much better than England

Host Curve:

D: US and UK are all linked now

Host Curve:

Q: are the press more positive in the US

Host Curve:

T: the press in the US are far more positive not so cynical. press in the UK - tabloid stuff they make judgements. Press are very different in the US. UK there seems to be an agenda.

AndyB:

I've got a question for BOTH of you: what did you each miss the LEAST about each other when the band split up for a while?

Host Curve:

Q: AndyB

AndyB:

<Phoenyx> Question for Toni - What do you think of the Showgirls film, seeing as some of your music appeared in that film?

Host Curve:

T: Dean's dark dark black moods

Host Curve:

D; Toni's digusting horrible black mods

Host Curve:

D; it was meant to be moods

Host Curve:

Q: what do think of movie Showgirls?

Host Curve:

T: never seen the movie. Saw up until our track. If you are going to be on a turkey - be on the number one turkey. Waited 45 mins to see it in the cinema then left when it started

Host Curve:

Q: Toni - do you do some of the programming

Host Curve:

T: no

AndyB:

<Guapo> Q for Dean: I heard youworked on some ambient material while Curve took a break.. what came out of this?

Host Curve:

Q: Ian T. what is the difference between touring US and UK

AndyB:

<Gin> You seems very focused on US & UK... is the rest of the world less attractive to you?

Host Curve:

T: easier in the US, motels everything 24 hours , roads are straight, it is very professional. it is in UK as well just better in the US

Host Curve:

Q: what about the rest of the world

Host Curve:

T: the rest of the world is more beautiful

Host Curve:

D: we would like to go everywhere - we will get there.

AndyB:

<Guapo> Q: how tough is the promotional part of being Curve? on the curve list we hear of so many interviews, chats :), etc.. is it distracting, or do you enjoy it in a sick sort-of way? :)

Host Curve:

T: we go where the demand is. We would like to go to Prague etc

Host Curve:

Q: for Dean - ambient material

Host Curve:

D: loads and loads of DATS that all appear somewhere maybe

Host Curve:

D; some good stuff, some shit stuff

Host Curve:

Q: Curve mailing list -

Host Curve:

Q: promotional side

Host Curve:

T: really depends, what mood you are in - you could have had a bad day which other people may not care about. In general we like promotion - we like talking - as long as they quote us right

AndyB:

<buttmuncher> Wheres Rob and Monti at the mo?

Host Curve:

Q: What do you think is an indie band

Host Curve:

T: someone who signs independently with independent distribution. Very few indies left in the UK - still a few Mute Records, Fierce Pander

Host Curve:

D: most are in the dance field

AndyB:

<Phoenyx> After CUR will there be another single from the album, and if so what will it be?

Host Curve:

Q: Buttmuncher -

Host Curve:

T: rob is in Birmingham, Monti is in Canvey Island on his scooter

AndyB:

Lambretta?

Host Curve:

D: yes

Host Curve:

Q: Mike C. since you work with Flood and Steve Osbourne - will you work with Alan Wilder 'Charlie'

Host Curve:

T: yes

AndyB:

<Guapo> at the DC gig you mentioned there would be a couple of gigs in Florida.. any plans?

Host Curve:

Q: My favourite group is Prodigy - do you think you will work with Liam

Host Curve:

T: we adore the Prodigy - Liam is a genius programmer

Host Curve:

D: it would be nice to work with them

Host Curve:

Q: Any chance of any other songs off Come Clean getting a video

Host Curve:

T: yes absolutely

AndyB:

<Jamie> You recently played a one-off gig at the Camden Falcon in London, which was really hot and sweaty for the punters. How different was it for you to play in a tiny venue like that?

Host Curve:

T:

Host Curve:

T: we would like to do alligators

Host Curve:

Q: one last question

AndyB:

<Lesley> I hate to keep bugging you with this, but as Alexa can tell you, I've had ahard time getting in touch with your PR people. Is there any way I can convince you to do a very brief 10 minute interview with me for my webpage Atlanta this Saturday?

AndyB:

got to admire his cheek :-)

Host Curve:

Q: Mark M. I've always enjoyed the way the bass drives your music - is it the primary

Host Curve:

D: it can do, over half of them

Host Curve:

Q: from Lesley

Host Curve:

D: yes, only if we can smoke.....

Host Curve:

D: Respect

Host Curve:

T: See you in the next life

AndyB:

Thanks a lot Curve! Good of you to take time out to meet us all.

Host Curve:

From Alexa thanks for everyone who took part and thanks to Curve
