I know nothing about ID cards in other countries, but I had something like the Dutch ID card in mind:

All info a Dutch ID card gives is: Name, nationality, birth date, a number specific to that person (BSN), birthplace, gender and height.
(The other things on the card are short codes for the kind of ID card and the nationality, the ID number (of the card itself), date the person got the card, expiration date, and the town he got the card.)
As was stated at the setting discussion, not naming the exact country he is in has its advantages - our ID card can have any information we want, we are not limited to what is printed on ID cards in <random country>.
