Membership

Stack membership is open to all students and employees of the Eindhoven University of Technology (TUE). Special membership is available to students of the Fontys University of Applied Sciences Eindhoven. The main difference between regular members and special members is that the latter do not get a vote in general meetings and are not eligible as board members. The annual membership fee of Stack is € 15,-.
Stack also provides a form of membership for students' associations active in Eindhoven.

Individual memberships
Advantages of membership
Members are granted access to the many technical facilities offered by Stack for no extra cost. These facilities include
- access to a number of Unix servers featuring a large collection of software;
- web hosting featuring a lot of disk space, the ability to run PHP and CGI scripts and possibility of using your own domain name;
- the use of MySQL and PostgreSQL databases;
- extensive email facilities, including mailing lists;
- IPv6 tunnel connectivity;
- use of the Stack News server;
- Subversion (SVN) repositories;
- and many more!
Stack tries to provide its members with the IT functionality that is desired for you at no extra cost.
Of course a Stack membership entails more than just technical features. Members are encouraged to participate in drinks, activities, excursions and other events.
And of course Stack is a great place for technical advice and discussion.
Becoming a member or renewing your membership
To join the association, fill out the registration form (dutch version). If you visit Stack to hand in the form, you can pay your membership fee and set up your new account while there.
You can renew an existing individual membership by visiting Stack to pay the membership fee with cash, or by transferring the fee to giro 5689627. Please note your Stack login name in the transaction description. Submission of the membership form is not required for renewal.
Associational membership
Advantages of membership
Stack also caters to students' associations and other groups of students in the Eindhoven area, providing most student groups with the IT services at virtually no cost. For a yearly fee of € 25,- an account is created allowing for a range of services for your students association, including:
- Large web space (20 GB default, can be larger at no extra cost) - so large photo albums are no problem;
- Unix account with a lot of software and storage;
- coupling of your domain name to the website(s);
- use of CGI, PHP scripts;
- ability to have mail for your domain hosted at Stack, along with mailboxes, forwards, mailing lists and webmail;
- use of MySQL and/or PostgreSQL databases;
- use of subversion (SVN) repositories;
- and many more!
Becoming an associational member or renewing membership
To become an associational member of Stack, please contact the Stack Board. If you wish to discuss technical aspects about hosting of your site or other facilities with Stack, you can also contact the Unix Committee.
