Helpdesk

The Stack helpdesk was established to offer general computer assistance to students and employees. You don't need to be a Stack member to use the helpdesk services. The Stack helpdesk may be of assistance when you can not be helped by the NSC or other university helpdesks - for instance when you are trying to do something that is not officially supported by the university. This can be something like using UNIX op your laptop (or other systems) or using an Apple with MacOS X, when experiencing hardware problems or need help with specific applications.

Note that the Stack helpdesk does not intend to replace the NSC and other TUE helpdesks. For general problems you are still advised to try and find a solution through the official TUE channels. We only try to offer an addition to the standard university services.

Contact us

The Stack helpdesk can be reached by email at helpdesk@stack.nl. Or you can visit Stack at any time in De Hal 0.03 (contact). Note that the helpdesk primarily offers assistance via email and helpdesk people are often not present at Stack. Keep in mind that we are volunteers, offering to help others with our experience - we don't know everything and we are not paid university staff.

Documentation

To provide answers to common technical questions on Stack, the Stack Helpdesk maintains the Stack Technical FAQ. If you have a technical question or problem related to Stack directly, please consult this FAQ first.

The Stack helpdesk team also publishes articles about the use of specific services or applications. For instance documentation about running MacOS, Linux or BSD on your laptop. Anybody willing to offer additional documentation is welcome to contact us. You may be helping many others with similar problems by offering your experiences.
