Committees

Stack has a number of committees and working groups to organize its activities.

The Board (Het Bestuur)

The board forms the executive committee and is responsible for Stack's daily operations and external representation.

The current board was installed at the 60th General Assemby on May 31st, 2011.

Auditing Committee (Verificatie Commissie)

This statutory committee audits the Board as well as advises it. The Committee reports to the Association at the semi-annual General Assembly. The current committee was installed on the 60th GA on May 31st, 2011 and consists of Bram Geron and Andre van Schoubroeck.

The previous committee is also still active and consists of Patrick van Welie and Michel van Welie.

Reboot (bestuurszoekcommissie)

This temporary committee was established by the June 2009 general meeting. Its task is to look into the continuity of the association and to go and find new board members for the next year (2009-2010). This task should be completed by the October 2009 general meeting, where the committee will report.

Board-appointed committees

The board appoints a range of committees to deal with assorted association activitees. These committees can be established and disbanded at any time. However, many committees have been present for a long time (some since the foundation). Committee members also tend to serve for more than one year, so there is a lot of expertise present in each committee.

Unix Committee (Unix Commissie, System Administration)

The Unix Committee provides the systems and network administration at Stack. The committee is responsible for management of the computer network, the various computers (running all kinds of operating systems, ranging from FreeBSD and Linux to DEC Ultrix and Microdutch X/OPEN). Stack members have accounts on a number of our login servers. The Unix Committee also administers the web server for student assocations, www.stud.tue.nl.

Website editorial staff (Webredactie)

This working group maintains the Stack website as well as the www.stud.tue.nl main content. The website editorial staff also supervises the Stack Wiki and Stack Forum. Finally it assists members and connected student associations with website related matters.

Previous committees

The following committees were also present in recent years. However replacements have not yet been appointed since their discharge on the annual general meeting (AGM) of Stack on 3 December 2009. It is expected that new committees will be formally appointed in the following days. For the time being, the members listed below still take care of business until these appointments are completed.

Activities Committee (Activiteiten Commissie, AxI)

This committee organises the Stack social activities. Apart from the well-known SHoBo which is organized every month, various tournaments (including Quake, Magic the Gathering, NetRunner, darts, pool) and excursions (including CeBIT and the HCC-dagen, but also companies and breweries), and occasional activities like drops.

Intro Committee (Intro Commissie)

The Intro Committee organizes activities during the annual introduction week in August.

Music committee (werkgroep muziek)

Composition: Boris Ammerlaan, Remko van der Vossen and Ivo van der Sangen.

StackPointer editorial staff (StackPointer Redactie)

This working group constitutes the editorial staff for Stack's associational journal, the StackPointer. This journal is delivered to all members' home addresses and employees of the Dienst ICT. The StackPointer includes technical articles written by our members, reports and pictures of activities, quotes from the Stack room and other content. ormatie.

This committee was disbanded on 21. November 2007 and a new committee has not been installed yet.

PR Committee (PR Commissie)

This committee maintains contacts with companies and institutions. Another responsibility of the PR Committee is to improve the image and recognizability of the Stack name.

Housing committee

This committee takes care of the housing of Stack, especially considering the Campus 2020 plan: The long term renovation plan of the University. This plan includes the demolition of "De Hal" halfway 2011.

Presentations committee (werkgroep lezingen)

This committee plans to frequently invite speakers for guest presentations to Stack members. These speakers will be Stack members, ex-Stack members and other people who want to tell something about a project they are working on.
